LG G5 announced, uses a modular units

LG recently announced its new smartphone during MWC 2016- the modular design based G5. The phone has a 5.3″ quad HD display with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU with Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32 Internal ROM and 2800mAh battery. The phone has two batteries- a 16MP Primary camera and an 8MP camera. The phone uses USB 3.0 type-C port.

The LG G5 smartphone will be in four colour variants- Silver, Titan, Gold and Pink. The phone’s fast battery charging comes with a primary of filling 83% on the main battery in 30 minutes via Quick charge 3.0. The phone’s microphones will be using an active noise cancellation. Speaking of dimensions, its 5.88″ long, 2.91″ width and 0.30″ thick. The phone’s weight is 159g according to LG, and will have an optional dual-SIM design. What separates itself from typical smartphone design in a way since it has two modules:

  • Cam Accessory with 1200mAh additional battery pack and camera grip towards the rear.
  • Portable DAC with 32-bit 385 KHz audio playback

Having a removable module from the base on the LG G5 is a pretty good idea. It also provides a section to have a grip, something that many people may require while taking photos from the primary camera.  The phone is expected to be released in April 2016.
