Huawei stepped in the VR market with its headset called ‘Huawei VR’ which will work with its new flagship smartphone- the P9 and the six-inch Mate 8 tablet. For the Chinese marketing, Huawei VR will be launched with 4,000 video content and 40 VR games for free. There will also be 150
The headset connects via USB type-C cable and provides view equivalent of a 130″ TV at a distance of two meters with 95 degrees field of view. The resolution per eyes 1080p with 639 ppi. It should be noted that this headset will be providing 360-degree sound, the first headset to do so. That said, you’ll need a 360 degree sound capable headset.
The Huawei VR headset also has an anti-blue light filter and adjustable lenses. The headset has few function-specific buttons such as the back button, touch panel and a volume rocker.
According to news reports, Huawei made this headset specifically for the Chinese market. This is a very different approach compared other smartphone makers with VR headset, especially Samsung who has its VR headset for the worldwide market. But chances exist that at some point Huawei VR will be available in other countries eventually.
