Apple to its first R&D center in India

According to a recent report, Apple, Inc. is opening up a Research and Development Centre in Hyderabad. The company will be investing $25 Million and will be providing jobs to up to 4,500 people.

The company spokesperson said,“We’ve been investing to expand our operations in India and are thrilled to have passionate customers and a vibrant developer community across the country” He continued,“We are looking forward to opening a new development office in Hyderabad that will be home to over 150 Apple employees supporting maps development. The office will also have space for many contractors who will support our ambitious efforts locally.”

The new Apple research and development center will be a leased property of over 250,000 square feet. Before Apple, Google and Microsoft are known to have invested in Hyderabad. The move reflects the importance of the Indian market, considering India is the second largest smartphone retail market. This would not only enable the company to have larger volumes but also lower its manufacturing cost at some point.
